Half full or half empty?

It has been an interesting week, but I’m not quite sure whether it was good-interesting or bad-interesting. I’ll let you decide how I should be viewing my proverbial glass.

Half Empty
1. Take a good look at my progress on Cobweb above. Not bad you might think, the back and two fronts. Yes I’ve knitted the back and two fronts but take a better look at the fronts…that’s right TWO LEFT FRONTS! I don’t know how I did it. I think that when I knit on the train on my way to work I go into some sort of knitting trance.

2. Talking about the knitting train-trance, on Thursday I (yet again) got on the wrong train home. This time it wasn’t as much my fault. As usual Our train broke down and the train driver made an announcement to get on the next train. I did this but what the train driver had actually meant was get on the next train to where you want to go. I ended up in some windswept, desolate, place with only one platform and a sign that swayed slowly backwards and forwards making a sinister creaking sound. I finally got home about two hours later than I should have done.

3. I’m a big Posh Yarn fan, if you hadn’t already guessed, and I have been DESPERATE to buy some of the One Off Wednesday (OWW) yarn that Dee posts every Wednesday, but it goes up while I am at work and sells out before I get home. Anyway, this Wednesday 4 o’clock arrived and my boss headed off to get a coffee. ‘Ha Ha!’ I thought ‘my chance has come’ and quickly I located a gorgeous skein of dark blue cobweb weight yarn called Sombre. I got to the payment bit, entered my name and address and… my boss came back from the tea point. I pretended to be reading papers (naughty I know) and waited for him to sit down and look the other way. But by the time that he does and I tried to start entering my credit card details the yarn has gone from my basket. It is a tragic tale.

But now for the other sides of the stories...

Half Full

1. On Cobweb , the second side turned out better than the first so I’ll be keeping that one.

2. On the train journey, my husband took me out for a meal to cheer me up and we had a lovely time.

3. On the Posh Yarn… nope sorry there is no upside to this tale. But I have taken consolation by stroking my Posh Yarn stash and muttering to myself and I have started designing a Celtic knot stole to use this beautiful blue lace weight yarn with.

Oh and I have posted the Gerda pattern link in my previous post or sidebar.

I think a life with knitting in must always be at least half full of happiness and never half empty :o)

Next week will surely be better.

Oooh that cashmere looks so lusicious and thanks for the pattern for Gerda, I'm excited to give it a try.

BTW I'm a half full kinda gal, hope next week goes better.

Thants a difficult one! I have times where everything is both half full and half empty ;)
On the up side, the Cobweb looks yummy, and the colour is georgous!

What a shame with Cobweb! If its any consolation it looks fab!
Better luck with Posh Yarns OOW this week!
The yarn you liked on my blog was from Ullcentrum, a swedish company. They had some gorgeous colours.

Hope this week starts to look up for you. Such a shame about Cobweb but it is looking gorgeous, and will really be worth it when it is finished. Lots of good luck vibes coming out to you for this week!

Great post. I used to commute between north London and Sutton - very stressful. I agree with the half-fullers about the knitting - your other front half will be all the more beautiful for the extra (hopefully enjoyable) practice.

I'm a 'half full' person as well and from the witty way you described your tribulations, I think you must be too. I would have been banging my head on the desk at losing the PY though!

Gut wrenching that you got that far before finding out what you were doing!!! UGH! At least on my squares for the blanket I'm making, I can still use the square, the pattern didn't tell me that I was suppose to use a mirror image of the pattern for every other square....I guess I should have figured....but ya try to watch patterns so carefully!!! I just can't believe you can do such complicated work on the train! No way can I do that...of course I end up standing, which doesn't help.

That is too cute Kendra. You may feel even better to know that I have been known to knit the same side twice while making a cardigan as well. I think those kinds of things happen to a lot of knitters. I like the way you worked it out for yourself as well, by liking one better than the other. Cobweb is going to be gorgeous when you're done. I love the color as well as your work!

Ouch! That's too bad about the two left fronts! But it's comforting to know that even more experienced knitters still get into the knitting trance!

I hope you are able to get an even better skein of PY sometime. It must be frustrating to miss the opening of the sale...I'd like to try for some of Sundara's yarn, but I don't think I'll have a chance!

It was one of those days, Darling... But you know, at least you could find some upsides, that's not always the case, isn't it? *^v^*

Thank you for the Gerda pattern! ^^

I hope the rest of the week gets better. Only three more days and it'll be Friday!

(By the way, I can identify with your train-knitting hypnosis attack, I often get that.)

Thank you for the pattern of the Gerda stole, too. :)

Oh, I feel your pain. But, besides that, your cobweb looks great. The color is so pretty.
