I’m sorry for the long delay between posts but I have been on holiday. We went down to stay at my parents in Devon for a week. I thought I would have access to the internet but in the end I didn’t hence the silence recently. Anyway, we had such a great time - it was so relaxing and I was very happy to be home. I get very homesick for Devon, green fields, beaches and quiet emptiness. But most of all I get homesick for my parents and it was lovely to spend some time with them. Monkey and I have decided not to leave it so long between visits next time.Anyway knitting news, I wanted to knit something small and frivolous after finishing the lace stole so in the car on the way down to Devon I knitted the Hurry-Up Spring Armwarmers from Stitch and Bitch Nation. They were fun to knit and I think they look fine, however, my brother has made me promise never to wear these in public! I knit the arm warmers in Noro Silk Garden which I had lying dejectedly at the bottom of my stash.
The photo is taken in Trelissick Gardens in Cornwall, they are on the coast and combine beautiful gardens with breath taking views - I have put the water tower cottage down on my wish list of places to stay. It is actually in the National Trust garden!
While I was on holiday I also started knitting Matilda Jane by Ysolda . I’m really loving this pattern, it is very easy and the instructions are well written (plus aesthetically pleasing!) and as it is top down you can try it on for size as you knit. Ysolda is one talented girl and I always look forward to what she’ll be knitting next.Anyway, I really want to catch up on all the blogs I’ve been missing while I was on holiday so I’d better go for now!

Devon sounds so nice - I'd love to go there one day. Cornwall was so pretty, I'm sure Devon is just as nice. :)
Your armwarmers are cool, I really like the yarn you used for them, too. I would totally wear those in public. :p

I love the armwarmers, I have some too in green shades but prefer the colour of yours.
And you should tell your husband not to encourage the imaginary monkeys - they wreak havoc if they get their hands on felt tips or shaving foam....

The water tower cottage looks fabulous! We've stayed in Telford's Tower in Portmeirion, brilliant views and just rather niceand eccentric :-)
What a lovely tower. You could pretend to be Rapunzel, spinning (and knitting) all day long. You could have all your meals hoisted up in a little basket and have no interruptions at all. And when you got weary, the view would be wonderful to gaze out at.....
Anyway, your Matilda Jane looks really nifty. Must have one of those soon.

PS I would most definitely wear the armwarmers. You can wear anything. One rule only, you must do it with an air of confidence.

I'm new to your site (found a link from Knitting Princess' blog) and I love your theme (but maybe I'm biased). Your Devon photos are so pretty. I'm also interested in your armwarmers, as I am thinking of making a pair for myself. Do you find they keep your hands warm?
Wear them in public all you want!!! I love the colors! Did you see that I got the pattern for the mouse and blanket out of Lucinda Guy's Handknits for Kids book? I love this book so much, I'm getting ready to make a sweater out of it....since I bought to much yarn for the blanket. I bought her nighttime one too (can't remember the name off hand.) There is such cute animals along with blankets etc in these books!
I'm going to have to do that sweater. I really liked the looks of it when you mentioned it before, but I wasn't sure about making a sweater for me. But since it is top down...maybe I ought to go ahead and give it a go!

I love Devon , apart from the fact it doesn't have mountains LOL, no honestly I do;) so glad you had a lovely break, no where like home is there? .
The armwarmers are lovely and I love the colour. I have a spare ball of Noro silk in my stash, might use it for that.

I totally agree with everyone - the armwarmers are lovely and deserve to be worn in public - everyone else will be so jealous!! Maybe that's what your brother was afraid of - fights to steal your lovely armwarmers!!
