A little bit of colour…
These were going to be a beautiful little pair of plain cream bootees with tiny daisies sewn on them. I imagined that my baby might wear them with a little dress smocked and embroidered with more little, tiny, daises. That was because I was CONVINCED I was having a little girl, but today’s scan has conclusively shown that the Bunkey is a boy! And (after a little wistful sigh – only a very little sigh) I am delighted. I do love little boys, they always seem somehow more sensitive and innocent then little girls but maybe that is just the ones I have met. Besides, one day I will have a little girl to make dresses for and knit little lacy cardigans for. And in the meantime I’m planning on making a mini cricket jumper and some tiny but manly little jackets. I really am very, very happy.
Pattern: Zoe Mellor’s ‘50 baby bootees to knit’
Yarn: Jaeger Sienna 4-ply cotton
Needles: 2.75mm inox circulars
I know that I promised a picture of me and the bump in the Juno cardigan but I have been so busy lately and ill with a cold. The floods have been keeping everyone at work busy. Plus I’m in my dressing gown at the moment and I’m too lazy (and too comfy!) to go and get changed. ;-)
I almost forgot to say, Bryony asked in the comments to my last post about whether Juno was a bit chunky over the chest. It is fairly thick but the v-neck means it is still very flattering. I think that it would look great, regardless of how buxom one might be, as long as whatever you wear on the lower half balances it out.

Those shoes are adorable!
Having had 2 of each sex, boys love their mums and are keener to stay close to the apron strings, whereas I find girls are desperate to go it alone.
Congrats on the baby boy! How exciting.
I have three girls but my little boy is special in a different way. They love and adore their moms. Kind of like how little girls are with their dads. Just wait....you will love every moment!
I never had a girl but boys are just great! Your booties are lovely.
Very cute little shoes :D And thank you for the Juno feedback! I'm sorely tempted to give it a go... Especially at Cucumber Patch prices!
Little boys are very good at snuggling!
The booteees are great!
CUTE!!
Now strangely I have been subsconsciously thinking of your baby as a girl - how odd!
Good to know in advance so you can avoid too many overtly girly knits.
Hurrah! Congratulations! Oh, those little boots will be love -- maybe with a little smock top with embroidered dragons? Ah, dragons...
Oh, sorry to hear you're poorly. Nothing worse when you can't take any medication to get better with. Those booties are adorable and I'm sure your little man will look lovely in them!
A baby bunkey boy will be fantastic!
And I love the fact that I had a boy before a girl - it means that the pirate has an older brother to look after her, and I do think there's something very special about that :)
congrats on the news of your little boy!!! Yay..he will look so cute in these...any names?
They are going to look just a gorgeous on your little boy as daisies do on little girls :) Beautiful!!
I love the little boots, could you make me a big pair?!
I look forward to hearing possible names.
Oh a little boy , how lovely:) I have a daughter and a son and they are both in their own way truly special.
Love the little shoes
A little boy, how exciting! My first born was a boy and he was the calmest most placid baby ever!! And twenty years later, he's still the same!
Love the cute little shoes, they are gorgeous.
I've been thinking about the Bunkey, and now that you know it is a boy, I can say "him". :) The booties are adorable - and he will love them.
Many, many congratulations on the little boy Bunkey ... he'll be the apple of your eye. It's strange how we can have such strong feelings about the potential gender ... I was soooo convinced DD1 was a boy that I didn't ask what sex the baby was when she was born. I knew SHE was a boy!! The doctor must have been really quite concerned about my reaction to his announcement "You have a beautiful wee girl". I burst into tears and said out loud "My boy's got no willie"!! And Juno is stunning!
In my experience, girls (#2) were wonderful, but boy (#1) was even more wonderful!
My son was the cuddliest of them all, and the most easy-going. Takes all sorts, but little boys in my experience (my grandson as well) are the sweetest thing.
As far as knitting for babes, though, girlie knitting is the best!
I love those booties, they are so adorable. Congratulations on the boy. I too have one of each in the same order as Badger. The boy is rather more challenging than the girl though, but maybe just because he's our first!!
Hey, I am catching up on blogs! I just read this & we are both having boys!!!!! I am 5 weeks behind you. Can't wait to meet Bunkey. We have already named ours, Jack. I already have a 12 year old boy & I have to agree they do stay close to their mums!
The booties are adorable and congratulations too. I have one of each and my little boy was such a sweet one and loved lots of cuddles. I loved knitting him lots of knits too, but as he was born in summer I had to knit them a bit bigger so he could grow into them.
Lovely news on hearing you're expecting a boy. Hope you're feeling much better now. Those booties are adorable!
Little boys rock! (So do little girls, actually :) Hope ou're better xx
